Islamabad: For the first time in the history of Pakistan the un-elected Advisors and Special Assistants to Prime Minster declared their assets and details of nationality.
In past SAPM and Advisors like Hafeez Sheikh, Razzak Dawood and Nadeem Babar who were part of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) , Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) governments but never declared their nationalities and assets.
The issue was raised first time on 20th September 2019 by Arshad Sharif and Questions were send to Chairman FBR, Cabinet Secretary, Chief Election Commissioner and to the Prime Minister House about the asset details of Special Assistants and Advisors as they are part of policy making and decisions. SAPMs and Advisors used to sit in cabinet meeting on regular basis.
In These letters request were made to public the information regarding SAPMs and Advisors DualNationalities, local / foreign assets , shares in Local and foreign companies, Income tax / wealth tax declaration.

Soon after, as the issue discussed in media the members of national assembly belonging to Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf (PTI) aslo start questioning the assets details, source of income and business of these SAPMs and Advisors. Senior leader of PTI and Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan also demanded the information regarding assets , source of income and businesses of these people. Not on PTI members, but members of national assembly from opposition parties also took up this issue in National Assembly.

On 21th May 2020 PM Imran Khan ordered his advisers and special assistance in his cabinet to disclose their assets. After that assets details were submitted in cabinet division and on 18th July 2020 assets and nationalities were uploaded on cabinet division website.
Prime Minister Imran Khan fulfilled his promise but people start question over the people in sitting in the cabinet and having dual nationalities and Green Card.
