Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) today observed a countrywide Black Day against the suspension of ARY News transmission and cases against the senior management and anchorpersons of the channel.
On PFUJ’s call, journalists across Pakistan observed Black Day and black flags were hoisted at all press clubs across the country.
The PFUJ president Afzal Butt and other senior PFUJ officials said that the suspension of ARY News transmission is completely ‘illegal’. “Despite the orders of Sindh High Court, ARY News’s is not being restored. It is contempt of court. “said PFUJ president
He further added that, “ During PTI government, PFUJ was protesting against PECA ordinance. Bilawal Bhutto , Maulana Faza ul Rehman and Maryam Aurangzeb visited our camp and assured their support. Now they are in government but unfortunately, they are not paying any attention to this issue. Today, the future of more than 4,000 media workers is hanging in balance but all these political figures who are now running key ministries, have turned blind eye to this issue.”
President PFUJ also announced that if ARY News is not restored, PFUJ will start the “media worker’s solidarity march” from Karachi and this long march will be changed into “Dharna”.
