The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly today passed a resolution against suspending the transmission of ARY News and declared it an attack on freedom of press and freedom of expression. The resolution was tabled by Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousufzai.

According to KP assembly resolution, “ This provincial assembly strongly condemns the closure of the country’s largest news channel ARY News by the federal government and declares this move an attack on the freedom of the press. Sindh High Court has already directed to restore the news channel. “
The resolution further added that, “The cancellation of NOC of ARY News by the interior ministry is highly arbitrary and biased. This decision has affected hundreds of employees associated with ARY News. This House, therefore, demands the Federal Government to immediately restore the transmission of ARY News.”
It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh High Court has already suspended the notification of cancellation of ARY News NOC by the interior ministry but PEMRA did not renew the license of ARY News.
