PTI senior leader and former information minister Fawad Chaudry announced on Tuesday that PTI is approaching ECP for the disqualification of 19 PMLN candidates who are contesting in Punjab by-polls. “Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf has approached the electoral watchdog to disqualify 19 PMLN for life as they were earlier disqualified by ECP under article 63-A.” PTI leader said.
While addressing a press conference, Fawad Chaudry also said that “these 19 PMLN candidates were part of PTI and they voted for Hamza Shahbaz in CM Punjab election so by doing so, they violated the scheme of the constitution for their personal benefits. Therefore, all these candidates must be disqualified for life and should not be given any chance to run for Punjab by-polls.”
In another separate petition, PTI pleaded with the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of pre-poll rigging and the use of state machinery against PTI candidates in the Punjab by-election. According to PTI’s petition, voter lists are being amended to benefit PMLN candidates in all 20 constituencies. Besides this, in PP 07, PMLN candidate Raja Sagheer is violating the election code of conduct by offering bribes to voters. The petition further states that it is the duty of ECP under the constitution of Pakistan to ensure a free and fair election.
